How do we share the same projects?

Place the project database file on a network drive and point all computers to it:

  1. Install GSC as usual.
  2. Open GSC and click Advanced> Preferences.
  3. Enter or browse to the Remote directory.
  4. Click the radio button to activate Remote.

There are many ways to do this:

  1. Click "Working Folder" to open the current credit's working directory. Copy it in; OR
  2. Copy any number of files to the "AutoAdd" directory" and click "Advanced>Process AutoAdd"; OR
  3. When you get an email in Outlook with correctly named attachments" ensure the email is selected in Outlook and click "Save Email Attachments"; OR
  4. Drag and Drop any project document to the "Drag and Drop" link.

What if I have multiple copies of a document (eg. Man-1 A Cert1.pdf and Man-1 B OldCert.pdf)?

  • Don't do this since an arbitary document will be selected as the 'official' one. It's okay to have a .doc and .pdf in which case the PDF is used.
  • To store non-official documents (perhaps an incomplete or superceded version) put them in a sub-directory of the credit (eg. Man-1/unused).

Sometimes the cover pages are ""zoomed in"" and cropped. How do I fix this?

  • This is caused by Windows printer drivers - either no drivers are installed or the current driver is problematic.
  • To solve install at least one print driver. Also change the default print driver to another driver. Also try a computer restart.

Why is the 32-bit version recommended?

The application runs on 32- and 64-bit Windows machines. It uses the 32-bit version of Office which is used nearly everywhere. You should also use the 32-bit runtime. If you would like a 64-bit version (unlikely) please contact the author.

2. Click "New Doc" and create a "custom" document.

Why are some credits hidden in reports? How do I show or hide credits? Should I remove zero point credits?

  • No - don't remove credits as you're muck up the scoring.
  • Credits are shown in reports (eg. Documents by Credits) where at least one document exists.
  • Therefore to ignore a credit in a report ensure there are no documents associated with it.
  • Conversely ensure there is at least one document for a credit in order to show it.
