If you’re backcountry touring and need to train/hitch/etc to the start, it’s awkward (though funny) to wear boots. What is a really light shoe you can take with you? This focuses on mass not volume.
Brooks Hyperion Tempo | 420g | $180 |
Nike vaporfly | 390g | $330 |
Adidas Adizero Pro | 372g | $360 |
Nike Free RN Flyknit | 381g | $170 |
New Balance Fresh Foam Beacon | 426g | $180 |
320g | $110 |
There are more barefoot style shoes like the Merrll. too.
So either Nike Free RN Flyknit (thicker, warmer sole) or Merrell vapor glove 6 (thinner, cold sole, lighter)

Update 2024 after using for ski touring: Merrell vapor glove 6 are great. Grippy, light, not freezing cold.
